To Make The The Chex Mix Adapted from Chex Cereal's "Gluten Free Muddy Buddies" recipe
Measure out the Chex cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
In a microwave safe bowl, microwave the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter on high for about 30 seconds. Give the mix a stir.
Continue to microwave and stir in 15 second intervals until the mixture is melted and smooth.
You can also melt these ingredients by placing them in a heat safe bowl over simmering water. Stir frequently until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
Once the chocolate peanut butter mixture is melted, stir in the vanilla.
Pour chocolate over the Chex cereal and gently toss until thoroughly coated.
Transfer the chocolate covered cereal to a 2 gallon freezer bag, large bowl or stock pot (that's what I used) and add the powdered sugar. If using a bowl or pot, make sure to put a lid on it!
Shake the mixture until the cereal is completely coated in the powdered sugar.
At this point you can either leave it in the large bowl, or move it to a sheet pan or large baking dish.
Making the Pretzel MummiesMelt the vanilla candy wafers or white chocolate chips by placing them in a microwave safe bowl and microwaving on high for 30 seconds. Give the mix a stir and continue to microwave and stir in 15 second intervals until the mixture is smooth.
You can also melt the wafers by placing them in a heat safe bowl over a pan of simmering water. Stir frequently until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
Transfer the melted wafers to a piping bag* or a squeeze bottle.
*If you don't have a piping bag, put the melted wafers into a ziplock bag and snip off the corner of the bag. Don't cut off too much, or the drizzle will be too thick!
Spread out your chocolate covered pretzels in a single layer on a parchment or wax paper lined cookie sheet.
Using your piping bag, drizzle the melted vanilla candy over the top of the pretzels, zig zagging back and forth. Make sure to add a little extra white to the top of the mummy's "head" to make it look like bandages!
Quickly add the candy eyeballs to the wet drizzle, to make the mummy's face.
Repeat this process until all the chocolate covered pretzels have been turned into mummies.
Pop the pretzel mummies in the fridge to set. This only takes about 5 minutes.
Assembling The Mummy Munch Halloween Snack MixIn a large bowl, add the candy corn mix and the M&M's to the"Puppy Chow" Chex mix.
Lightly toss until everything is well distributed and transfer to your serving dish.
Remove the mummy pretzels from the fridge and add to the mix.
Serve and enjoy this cute, spooky, and fun snack mix for Halloween!
