Spray a 13x9 baking dish with cooking spray and line with parchment paper by making a sling over the sides. Spray the parchment too.
In a 2 quart or larger saucepan, melt the butter and the marshmallows over medium to medium high heat. Stir constantly until the mixture is melted and smooth.
Immediately pour the marshmallow mixture over your Rice Krispies and stir. Continue to stir the mix until everything is well combined and the cereal is thoroughly coated and sticky.
Spoon the marshmallow cereal mixture into the prepared pan.
Using a piece of plastic wrap, press into the pan to make an even and compact mixture.
Cover tightly with plastic wrap, and allow to sit for a couple hours or overnight until the mixture is cool and set.
Once the Rice Krispie Treats are set, use the parchment paper sling to remove from the baking dish.
Trim the edges of the treats into a neat rectangle with straight sides. Cut into 12 bars and set aside.
