Ingredients

  • 2 cups of pink candy melts
  • 6 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 5 cups of mini marshmallows
  • 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 12 Chocolate Candy Hearts Hershey's or Ghirardelli
  • Valentine colored sprinkles

Instructions

To Make The Rice Krispie Treats

  • Spray a 13x9 baking dish with cooking spray and line with parchment paper by making a sling over the sides. Spray the parchment too.
  • In a 2 quart or larger saucepan, melt the butter and the marshmallows over medium to medium high heat. Stir constantly until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  • Immediately pour the marshmallow mixture over your Rice Krispies and stir. Continue to stir the mix until everything is well combined and the cereal is thoroughly coated and sticky.
  • Spoon the marshmallow cereal mixture into the prepared pan.
  • Using a piece of plastic wrap, press into the pan to make an even and compact mixture.
  • Cover tightly with plastic wrap, and allow to sit for a couple hours or overnight until the mixture is cool and set.
  • Once the Rice Krispie Treats are set, use the parchment paper sling to remove from the baking dish.
  • Trim the edges of the treats into a neat rectangle with straight sides. Cut into 12 bars and set aside.

Decorating The Rice Krispie Treats

  • Melt candy melts in a heatproof bowl over a pot of steaming water or microwave in 15-second intervals after an initial 1-minute heat. Stir until smooth. Next, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Once the chocolate melts are melted, take one of the Rice Krispie Treats and dip it into the candy coating. Only come halfway up the bar. Feel free to use a spoon to help create an even line and get the bottom half of the Rice Krispie Treat evenly coated.
  • Shake off the excess and set down on a piece of parchment or wax paper.
  • Unwrap and press a chocolate heart into the center of the Rice Krispie Treat.  Add a little melted chocolate to the back of the candy heart if it's not sticking well.
  • Lastly, sprinkle the pink coating with the Valentine sprinkles.
  • Repeat until all the treats are dipped and decorated.
  • You can chill the treats for 30 minutes or allow them to sit at room temp until set.
