This Valentine’s Snack Mix is the perfect homemade Valentine treat for the kids! Packed with good-for-you ingredients and a little chocolate of course, this trail mix will add some extra love to their Valentine’s Day without all the junk!

I love making homemade Valentine treats for my family! And while I love an old fashioned box of candy, for school days, I like to pack something a little more nutritious into my kiddo’s lunchbox.
This Valentines Day Trail Mix is the perfect combo of sweet and salty ingredients, with a few touches that let your kiddo know this is a special treat.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- This is a sweet treat that is super cute with naturally pink and white ingredients.
- Valentine’s Day Snacks can be really sweet. This snack mix is a better, healthier option and perfect for lunchboxes!
- The recipe is made with simple ingredients and takes 5 minutes to put together. There’s no baking, melting over a stovetop, or any cooking required!
- This snack mix tastes amazing and is a nutritious sweet treat kids will love!
Ingredients For A Valentine’s Day Snack Mix

- Cheerios– Choose strawberry banana or very berry flavored cereal for the pink coloring.
- Freeze Dried Strawberries – These add a pop of Valentine color and make a great nutritious snack!
- Chocolate Covered Mini Pretzels Twists – Valentines Snacks MUST have something chocolatey. These mini pretzels add the perfect sweet and salty crunch!
- Strawberry Yogurt Covered Raisins – I like the strawberry ones because of the pink and white, but if you can’t find strawberry ones, white yogurt covered raisins are great!
- Lightly Salted Almonds or Honey-Roasted Almonds
Instructions
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and gently stir until everything is evenly mixed.
Pack into lunchboxes or treat bags for gifting! Store the leftover mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Substitutions
- Cereal- choose any cereal you like! There are so many options out there, so choose what’s best for your family. For Valentines snacks, I choose cereals that are pink or red for a festive snack mix.
- Nuts- If your family has an allergy or attends a nut free school, swap the almonds for roasted salted chickpeas, pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds!
- Gluten-Free Option– The Strawberry Banana Cheerios in this recipe are gluten-free, and if you can’t find them, protein Strawberry Cheerios or Strawberry Vanilla Chex Cereal are gluten-free replacements. Swap the chocolate-covered pretzels for gluten-free ones, and for the raisins, they are naturally gluten-free, but the facility where they are processed is not. I found that Mariani brand Yogurt Covered Raisins are listed as gluten-free.
Variations
The sky is the limit on this Valentine’s snack mix! You can make this as sweet or as wholesome as you’d like. No matter what you add, it will be delicious! Here are some ideas to make this snack mix extra special this Valentine’s Day:
- Mini marshmallows
- White chocolate chips
- M&M candies or Unreal Chocolate Gems, for a low sugar option
- Sprinkles
- Popcorn or kettle corn. You can even coat the popcorn in white almond bark (I do this for my Valentines Popcorn Mix)
