Ingredients for Halloween Pretzel Treats
You only need a few simple ingredients to make the delicious Halloween chocolate covered pretzels that are as fun to make as they are to eat.

Various Colored Candy Melts or White Chocolate Chips – Candy melts can be found at the craft store or sometimes in the grocery store in the baking section.
Pretzel Rods – A 12 ounce bag of Snyder’s Pretzel Rods (or other brand) will give you about 30 good halloween pretzels.
Assorted Halloween Sprinkles and Candy – This is for decorating! You can use candy corn, Halloween M&Ms, spooky sprinkles, and any other decorations that fit the Halloween theme! The sky is the limit for this spooky treat!

Step by Step Instructions
Follow these simple step by step instructions for one of the easiest Halloween snacks you’ll ever make.
Step 1
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or wax paper and set aside.
Step 2
Melt your chocolate and/or candy pieces
Microwave Method: In a heat proof, microwave-safe bowl or measuring cup, microwave the chocolate melts for 1 minute and give a stir. Continue to melt in 15 seconds bursts , stirring until completely melted and smooth.
Double Boiler Method: Candy melts and white chocolate chips can be placed in a heatproof bowl set over a small saucepan of barely simmering water. Stir until melted.
Hint: If microwaving white chocolate chips, melt for about 45 seconds at first. Stir and keep heating in 15-second bursts until the chips are melted and smooth.
Step 3

Once the chocolate is melted, spoon the coating over the pretzel rods, covering about 3/4 of the pretzel. Leave the bottom uncoated so they can be held easily.
Step 4

Shake off excess chocolate or candy coating back into the dish. The coating on the pretzel stick should be even and smooth.
Set the coated pretzel on the parchment paper lined sheet pan and continue coating the pretzel rods until you run out of chocolate.
Tip: if the chocolate starts to become too set to dip the pretzels, microwave for another 15 seconds until melted.
Step 5

While the coated pretzels are still wet, add the sprinkles and decorations.
Step 6

Once decorated, let the candy coating harden on the prepared baking sheet for about 15-20 minutes at room temperature, or pop the pretzels in the fridge to set in half the time.
Serve and enjoy!
Topping Options for Halloween Pretzels
The sky’s the limit for how to top or decorate these chocolate-dipped pretzels! Add colored sugar, chopped Halloween candy, Halloween themed sprinkles, candy eyes, chopped candy corn, or even marshmallow spider webs. Check out my Halloween Spider Cake for easy instructions on how to do that last one.

Substitution Options
- Use gluten-free pretzel rods for an easy gluten-free treat.
- Use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, or colored chocolate pieces
- White chocolate or almond bark can be colored with oil-based candy food coloring if you don’t want to use candy melts!
- Use dairy free chocolate pieces if you have a dairy allergy or avoid it.
Variations
For Witch Finger Pretzels: Dip your pretzel rod in green candy melts, and add a sliced almond at the tip for a fingernail. You can use chocolate jimmies or black candy melts to make wrinkles or the “knuckles” on the pretzel finger.

For Halloween Pretzel Mummies: Dip your pretzel rod in white chocolate or white candy melts. Add two candy eyeballs and add a mini chocolate chip or dot of black candy melts below the eyes to make a mouth. After making the mummy’s face, drizzle white chocolate back and forth across the head and “body” of the chocolate covered pretzels for the bandages

Tips & Tricks
I like making Halloween snacks for kids super simple, but these few little tips and tricks make life even easier!
- Add the decorations while the candy coating is still tacky, that way they’ll stick easily!
- Don’t dip the whole pretzel. You need to leave some space for the pretzel to be held.
- Shaking off the excess candy coating gives the pretzels a smooth finish and allows you to coat more pretzel rods!
